BeachBand is designed to help people make contact without collecting more information than we need.
The short version
We collect only what is needed to operate BeachBand and the information you choose to give us.
We do not sell your information. We do not use BeachBand to build advertising profiles. We do not ask your phone for your location.
When a BeachBand is scanned
Our system may record that the BeachBand was scanned and the time of the first scan.
For the BeachBand field trial, this helps us understand whether test keys are being found and how long that takes.
Information a finder may provide
During the field trial, we ask the finder to tell us roughly where the test key was found.
Other information is optional and may include:
- first name
- email address
- what happened to the key
- a short comment
- whether the finder would like to hear about free BeachBand samples
Location
BeachBand does not ask your phone for GPS location.
If we ask where something was found, the finder chooses what location information to type into the form.
Email addresses
Providing an email address during the field trial is optional.
If you provide one, we use it only for the purpose you have chosen, such as contacting you about BeachBand samples or responding to your message.
Providing an email address does not automatically subscribe you to a marketing list.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not ask for a phone number during the field trial.
- We do not ask your phone for GPS location.
- We do not use finder information to create advertising profiles.
- We do not require an app to use BeachBand.
Security
BeachBand uses secure web connections and keeps its database behind the BeachBand server rather than exposing it directly to the public browser.
We aim to retain only the information needed to operate, test and improve the service.
About this field trial
BeachBand Field Trial 001 is an early real-world test. The service and this privacy information may be refined as we learn from the trial.
If our data practices change materially, we will update this page.
